Many sceptics questioned whether the inexperienced Krul could fill the void between the sticks for Newcastle as they returned to the Premier League at the start of the 2010/11 campaign, but the Hague-born keeper have confirmed he is every inch a top flight performer in the last couple of season.
A stunning shot stopper, he is commanding his box with increasing authority and in what was a magnificent season for Newcastle United under Alan Pardew’s guidance this season, their former Den Haag discovery has shot to the top of the game with some brilliant displays.
“You need a strong keeper as he can settle a defence and offer so much security to a team and in Krul, Newcastle have had that over the last couple of season,” confirms Pardew. “I have nothing but praise for the young man as he had a lot of questions to answer when he got his chance in this team and he has answered them all emphatically. He’s more than ready to play for international level if the calls comes.”
