There are plenty of question marks hovering over the German defensive line-up heading into this Euro 2012 summer and Nationalmannschaft captain Lahm will be expected to solve many of them for coach Joachim Low.
Lahm is a proven performer at the highest level and despite his relatively modest 5’7” frame, he has rarely let club or country down. This will be his fourth successive major international tournament after making his bow in the 2006 World Cup finals and his motivation to succeed is burning brightly.
“It feels to me as if we have made progress since the last World Cup and that can only help us in Euro 2012,” states Lahm. “At this point, these are only words and they will only count if convert them into actions this summer.
“I look at our performance in the World Cup semi-finals against Spain two years ago and it showed we were very close to the best team in the world. It will not take much for us to beat them this time.”
