The Sweden squad heading to Euro 2012 is loaded with experienced internationals who have been a part of the set-up for many a year, yet Bajrami is one of the new breed looking to make his mark in a major tournament.
After playing in six qualifiers for this tournament and scoring his first competitive goal in the 5-0 win against Finland last June, this former Elfsborg midfielder is one of the rising stars of the Sweden squad after making an impression in the Dutch league this season.
Born in Kosovo and of Albanian descent, this winger offers a touch of pace and flair as either a starter or an impact substitute, and he is relishing his first shot at major tournament football. “Playing in the Under-21 championships was a thrill for me, but I expect this to be so much bigger in every way,” Bajrami says. “Hopefully I make the most of the chances that come my way.”
