One of the talismen of the Czech Republic for the last decade, this 2002 European Under-21 championship winner has delivered at international level time and again.
Seven performances in the Euro 2012 qualifying push confirmed that Baros remains a pivotal figure for his national team, with his experience at the highest levels ensuring he will have a big part to play in their campaign this summer.
A Champions League winner with Liverpool in 2005, he added FA Cup success to his record during a stint with Portsmouth and also has a league winner’s medal from his time in France with Lyon. One of his finest achievements must be topping the scoring charts at Euro 2004 and if this Turkish-based hit-man repeats that trick this summer, the Czech Republic could emerge as the surprise side of Euro 2012.
“I look at the example set by Greece at Euro 2004 and say everything is possible for us this summer,” says Baros. “Who expected them to be European champions? No-one, so everyone in this competition can dare to dream.”
