If Poland are to make an impression at Euro 2012 this summer, they will look to Blaszczykowski as one of the men capable of leading their charge.
Captain and talisman of this Polish side, he has been in fine form as Dortmund took on all-comers in the German Bundesliga this season, with his pace and dynamism on the flank making him a handful for the best of defenders.
His full debut came in March 2006 against Saudi Arabia and he made his mark in the Polish side with some stunning displays during the Euro 2008 qualifying success. Four years on and the Polish fans will look to one of their local heroes to light the blue touch paper on their very own Euro party.
“This is a chance for Poland to do something the nation will never forget,” says the star who is nicknamed Kuba. “We need to be a team this summer, not a group of individuals because even if you don’t have a lot of star names, a group working together can still be successful.”
