Mathieu Flamini has opened the door to a summer exit from AC Milan after claiming he has “various options”.
The former Arsenal midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the season and after a troubled four year spell in Serie A he is considering his future. A return to Marseille, where he began his career, has been mooted and is something Flamini would consider.
But for now he is determined to make a success of his remaining time with Milan before deciding on his next move.
“There are various options for my future, which is why there is so much talk,” he told L’Equipe. “Right now I am at Milan and what counts is finishing the first half of the season in the best way possible. Marseille? For now I am here, then we’ll see.”
Having made just seven appearances over the past two seasons, Flamini has struggled to make any serious impact with the Rossoneri but he insists he does not consider his time at the club a failure.
“It is always a pleasure to start a match,” he added. “In a career there can be difficult moments, but it’s a marathon not a sprint and I have no intention of pulling back. I remain concentrated so I can prove the Coach can count on me.”© ESPN
