Former Germany captain Michael Ballack believes that Marco Reus deserves praise after his performance in the 4-2 demolition of Greece that secured their progress to the semi-finals.
Reus, 23, was given a start as coach Joachim Low dropped Lukas Podolski, Mario Gomez and Thomas Muller against the Greeks and vindicated his selection by scoring the fourth goal and causing trouble in the attacking third throughout the game.
Ballack admitted that he was impressed by the winger, who signed for German champions Borussia Dortmund before the tournament began.
"He was really good and is a great option for the next game. It's nice to see that the young players come onto the pitch and take their chance," Ballack told ESPN. "And above all, Reus was really good."
Low faces a tough decision over who to start in the semi-final against England or Italy next week as his regular starters will expect to play.© ESPN
