Petr Cech insists he will be fit for the Czech Republic’s critical Group A clash against Euro 2012 co-hosts Poland.
Cech suffered a shoulder injury in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Greece, but resumed light training on Thursday. The Chelsea shot-stopper remains upbeat over his chances of making full recovery in time for the final group stage match this Sunday.
“I had a training session with a modified programme,” Cech said. “I came through very well. I am satisfied that my fitness has improved.
“I am still not OK, but there are still two days until the [Poland] match and I know now that I will be 100% fit."
Meanwhile, skipper Tomas Rosicky sat out training on Thursday after picking up a knock to his Achilles against Greece. The midfielder is doubtful to take on Poland after being confined to gym work since the injury.
Czech Republic are just one point behind Group A leaders Russia heading into the decisive group stage match, with Poland also a chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals if they can record a win on Sunday.© PA
