Cesc Fabregas has admitted he is loving his role as the focal point of Spain’s attack.

Spain coach Vicente Del Boqsue raised eyebrows when deploying Fabregas as his advanced option in the 1-1 draw with Italy, while the likes of Fernando Torres, Fernando Llorente and Alvaro Negredo were left kicking their heels on the bench.

Fabregas took on his role with relish by scoring Spain’s goal and he is happy to be deployed as a forward by Del Bosque.

“It is a position I have been using a lot this year,” Fabregas said. “I am very happy there, as I have a lot of mobility and I get to go where I feel is the best position.”

Should Del Bosque shuffle his deck for the clash with Ireland, it will not faze Fabregas.

“It is the manager’s decision to play me where he feels,” he said. “As a second striker, or striker, I will try and do the best to help the team any way I can.”
