Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given returned to training on Friday, just over 48 hours before his side take on Croatia in their Euro 2012 opener.

Given, 36, has been a doubt since injuring a knee at the Irish training camp in Malahide, with that initial injury then followed by a calf strain and blistered feet.

Coach Alan Kelly and assistant Marco Tardelli had told reporters that the Aston Villa keeper would be fit, but with Given not taking full part in Thursday's session, doubts had begun to emerge.

All 23 Ireland players were present and fit for training on Friday, giving manager Giovanni Trapattoni a full array of options for Sunday's opener.
