Versatility is always such a useful commodity for a player to posses as he looks to snare a spot in a Euro 2012 squad and Miguel has that on his side, with his ability to play at full-back or in a holding midfield role making him an attractive option for Portugal boss Paulo Bento.
Having played in six Euro 2012 qualifiers, it’s clear that Bento has great faith in Veloso’s abilities and no wonder. He has never let his manager down when the call has come and he was hugely impressive in the 6-2 play-off triumph against Bosnia & Herzegovina and subsequent friendly against Poland.
Bento knows Veloso well having worked with him during his time as Sporting boss and that relationship should ensure he sees plenty of Euro 2012 action, as he is perfectly suited to a holding role in the 4-3-3 formation Portugal may look to employ this summer.
