An experienced member of this Denmark side who played in all eight of their Euro 2012 qualifiers, Jacobsen would have completed every minute of the campaign were it not for his late substitution in the away win against Cyprus last October. He also grabbed his first international goal in that particular international.
First in Odense colours, then with Hamburg and FC Copenhagen, Jacobsen built up a reputation for his solid and uncomplicated defender, before injury played a part in denying him a chance to make his mark after he moved to English club Everton in August 2008. He finished that first season at Goodison Park with an appearance in the FA Cup Final at Wembley, but his stay at the club was not to last much longer.
A spell with London side West Ham preceded his return to FC Copenhagen last year and he has settled back into the old groove in the Danish capital this season, paving the way nicely for another crack at a major international tournament at Euro 2012.
