Big things were predicted for Menez as he emerged through the ranks of the French junior sides, and the links with top clubs across Europe strengthened as he began to make his mark in the professional ranks with Sochaux.
Creative and speedy, he is one of the players Laurent Blanc turned to at the start of his tenure as Les Bleus coach and while he only managed to play in two Euro 2012 qualifiers, the feeling is that he is a valuable option to have on the bench if a game needs turning against tired opponents this summer.
Spells at Monaco and Roma in Serie A preceded his move to the French capital last summer and he believes his return to his homeland has been perfect preparation for a summer of Euro 2012 action. “You always strive for something better, but I am quite satisfied with my performances in my first season at PSG,” Menez says. “It has been perfect preparation for the summer with France if Laurent Blanc decides to select me.”
