A late bloomer at international level, Petrzela made his senior debut when he was 26 and was something of a fringe player for national team boss Michal Bilek during the Euro 2012 qualifiers.
His appearances in the group stages of this season’s Champions League have helped to raise his profile ahead of this summer of international action, with his pace and drive making him a useful option to throw into a game late on if a moment of magic is required.
Petrzela showed what he is capable of in a Czech game against Hradec Kralove this season, as he led a breakaway from for Plzen and race the full length of the field before proving a dynamic finish. It was one of the goals of the European club season.
