A useful option to have on the bench, Navas is known for his blistering turn of pace and his trickery on the ball, after a career that has so far been entirely devoted to his local club Sevilla.
Making his debut in La Liga back in 2003, Sevilla have relied on their local hero to provide them with attacking impetus ever since and he now has bags of experience to call back on, playing almost 350 senior games for the club and adding a fair few spectacular goals to his collection every season.
Forcing his way into a talent-laden Spanish national team has proved to be a challenge both personally and professionally, with the quality of players blocking his route to regular action is complimented by his wariness of being away from home for extended periods on international duty. His problems dealing with homesickness/anxiety appeared to end his international career a few years ago, but he has put himself back in the mix for selection now.
While the boy who emerged from a gypsy family to become a star appears to have come to terms with his personal issues, it seems unlikely he would consider a move away from Sevilla any time soon, even though the offers for his services would be plentiful.
