This experienced performer made a late push to force his way into Croatia’s Euro 2012 squad, with injuries creating a few openings for this Bayern Munich star who has not played as much first team football as he would have wanted in the Bundesliga this season.
Previously with NK Osijek, Dinamo Zagreb and Dutch side Heerenveen, he moved to Bayern in 2009 and has played his part in their Champions League run this season and his ability to play in midfield or operate solidly at left-back makes him a useful option for Croatia boss Slaven Bilic.
He expressed his frustration with Bayern Munich officials after they blocked his proposed move to English side Everton in January. “I had agreed everything for the move and need to play regular football ahead of Euro 2012, but Bayern asked for a fee no-one would pay and that left me with a difficult situation,” says Pranjic. “Hopefully the coach will stick with me this summer.”
