After making his name with some of the less glamorous Polish league sides, Wasilewski had a spell at Lech Poznan before securing a move to Anderlecht in 2007.
He shot to unwanted prominence during a game against Standard Liege in August 2009, as a clash with Belgium international Axel Witsel resulted in him suffering an horrific double leg break that appeared to be put his future in the balance. The lengthy ban handed down to Witsel confirmed the severity of his crime, but the recovery period was far more painful for Wasilewski.
This appearance in Euro 2012 on home soil should act as compensation for a right back who has been a full Polish international since 2002. Noted for his drive and determination, Anderlecht fans appreciate his fighting qualities and he has turned in a fine season in the Belgian league ahead of his big summer of tournament action.
