One of the success stories of Germany’s Euro 2012 qualifying push, Schurrle proved to be an effective option for Joachim Low to use off the bench late in games, as he scored three times against tiring opponents to finish off games en-route to the finals.
As either a creative wide man or a striker, Schurrle offers Germany some depth in their attacking line-up, with his pace and finishing ability making him a handful for any defender and he is relishing the chance to make an impact in his first major international tournament.
“This Germany team has developed so much in the last two years and now the coach has decisions to make in many positions,” says Schurrle. “The young guys coming into the squad are hungry and we believe we are ready to show what we can do at Euro 2012. I count myself among that number.”
