Schone’s international career certainly started in a grand manner, as he scored soon after coming on in a friendly against Chile with a curling finish that oozed composure and class.
It was not enough to earn him a regular slot in Morten Olsen’s midfield line-up, but he played his part in the Euro 2012 qualifiers and scored a vital goal after coming off the bench to secure a valuable three points in Iceland last June.
While his chances to play this summer are likely to be fleeting, his ability to come off the bench and make a quick impact makes this former De Graafschap star a valuable member of this squad.
“I know it will not be easy for me to start in the championships, but I want the coach to give me a chance to travel with the squad as I know I can help if the moment arises,” says Schone. “We have a very tough task at Euro 2012, but I like our chances.”
