One of the leading lights of Greece’s Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, Salpigidis played in all ten of his nation’s preliminary games, scoring an important goal in the tight win against Israel in September 2010.
Small in stature, he makes up for his lack of physical power with a dynamic work rate operating on the right wing or in a striking position and he heads into this summer’s tournament on the back of a fine season at club level. The highlight of PAOK’s season came in the Europa League, as Salpigidis was among the scorers in a famous victory against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
This former Panathinakos striker has been a full international since his first appearance in August 2005 and his finest moment for the national team came as he scored in the 2010 World Cup finals against Nigeria. He will be hoping to add another glory moment to his Greece career at Euro 2012.
