Reus has recently secured a move from Monchengladbach to German champions Borussia Dortmund, with the deal set to be finalised on July 1st. However, his new employers must be cursing their poor judgement, as Reus was on their books a few years ago and now they paying a reported €17.5m to get him back.
Dortmund-born, Reus turned down the chance to seal a move to Bayern Munich in favour a return to his hometown club and he is relishing his second chance with the form team in German football. “I will always owe Monchengladbach so much for helping me in my career, but Dortmund is where I want to be,” he says. “They are a team that work together and I look forward to being a part of their success.”
The transfer represented a worthy reward for a player who has shone in the Bundesliga this season, with his dynamism as either a support striker or a wide player making him a threat to the best of defenders.
