Lustig joined his Sweden international team-mate Daniel Majstorovic at Celtic when he left Rosenborg on a free transfer last January and believed the transfer would boost his hopes of cementing a spot in the national team set-up ahead of Euro 2012.
Unfortunately, injuries hampered his progress in his first few months in Scotland and he was left frustrated as Celtic wrapped up their title win in his absence. “You want to go to a new club fit and ready to make an impression, but that just wasn’t the situation for me with Celtic,” admits. Lustig.
“Euro 2012 has been at the forefront of my thoughts, as well as showing the fans of my new club what I am capable of. It has not been an easy time for me, but hopefully I can be fresh and ready for the summer with Sweden.”
This right-back has been a full Swedish international since 2006 and played in eight of his nation’s Euro 2012 qualifiers.
