Kelava was a little overworked as Dinamo Zagreb went head to head with Real Madrid and Lyon in this season’s Champions League, with the 22 goals flying past him in six group games apparently doing little to enhance his reputation.
However, he emerged from the heavy beatings with his reputation enhanced, as even though his team-mates were outclassed, their last line of defence still managed to claim praise in for keeping their embarrassment down to manageable levels.
A giant of a man between the sticks, Kelava has often been accused of looking a little too bulky around the waistline to make the grade at the very highest level of the game and he is unlikely to see too much Euro 2012 action this summer, with Stipe Pletikosa and Danijel Subasic ahead of him in the queue for a starting spot.
