A playmaker who offers an injection of goals and invention to the Italian midfield, Nocerino emerged as something of a regular performer for Azzurri coach Cesare Prandelli during 2011.
He may not be a starter when during Euro 2012 this summer, but the feeling is he could offer a goal threat coming off the bench after he turned in an impressive season in AC Milan colours, scoring and creating goals aplenty.
Previously with Piacenza, Juventus and Palermo, Nocerino moved to the San Siro last summer and experienced Champions League football, scoring a fine goal for his side in their battling defeat against Barcelona at the Nou Camp in April. He also played a part in Milan’s thrilling battle for the Serie A title with Juventus.
Now Nocerino is targeting Euro 2012 glory as he believes everything is in place for Italy to flourish this summer. “Our coach gives everyone a confidence that we can succeed in this tournament,” he says. “He gives everyone an equal chance and does not pick players on reputation. This allows us all to believe we have earned our place in the squad.”
