Bilic names Croatia 23

Croatia coach Slaven Bilic has omitted Goran Blazevic, Sime Vrsaljko, Nikola Kalinic and Dejan Lovren from his final 23-man squad for Euro 2012.

Bilic named an initial 27-man selection and the main surprise is the decision to select Jurica Buljat ahead of Vrsaljko. The Croatia boss had hoped to take Lovren but an injury doubt prevented him from doing so.

"I told four players that they can go home but I also told them to be ready to come if there are any injuries," Bilic said. "Lovren's medical tests were not good so without him we were down to three central defenders, and I decided to keep Jurica Buljat in the team as a result."

Croatia face Norway in a friendly on Saturday before opening their European Championship campaign against Ireland on June 10.
