It might sound like heresy, but some of the issues troubling Barcelona at present center on one of the few players who are actually playing well. Lionel Messi has bailed out the Spanish champions more times this season than Luis Enrique will want to admit, curling home perfect free-kicks, converting cool penalties, controlling certain games on his own. Without him, the title race would be over. And yet the role the Argentine occupies has rarely been as inefficient as it is now.
