Roy Hodgson took charge of his first match as Crystal Palace manager on Saturday but saw his side struggle in front of goal again as they lost 1-0 to Southampton. Palace have now set a Premier League record for the longest run without a goal at the start of a season. Christian Benteke missed a decent opportunity in the first half of their match with Saints, who took a 1-0 lead through Steven Davis. Mauricio Pellegrino's men held on in the second half to inflict a fifth successive league defeat on Palace. The Eagles have failed to score in their opening five matches -- a record in the English top flight -- and passed the unwanted milestone without netting in the second half. Hodgson's men now face trips to Manchester City and Manchester United before hosting Chelsea.
