Premier League looking into transfers involving youngsters - source

The Premier League is investigating transfers and potential deals involving young academy players, a source has told ESPN FC.

The source said that the Premier League have ongoing investigations looking into a small number of young player moves and proposed moves.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Wednesday night that Liverpool are under investigation for allegedly tapping up and offering a forbidden inducement to a Stoke City schoolboy.

The report claims that the Merseyside outfit backed out of an agreement over school fees for the unnamed player, which left his family in thousands of pounds of debt after they pulled out of a deal.

It adds that the boy cannot play for another team until Stoke are paid £49,000 in compensation.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Premier League are also investigating allegations related to grievances Liverpool had regarding one of their schoolboys joining Manchester City.

A spokesperson for the Premier League told ESPN FC that they could not comment on the allegations.

Liverpool and Stoke are yet to respond after being asked for comment by ESPN FC.
