Sam Allardyce would consider return to international management

Sam Allardyce has told talkSPORTĀ he is unlikely to return to club management but could be interested in an international job if the right one became available.

Former Bolton, Blackburn, West Ham and Sunderland boss Allardyce lasted only 67 days in charge of England before departing, but, after a brief spell at Crystal Palace in which he saved them from relegation, he is keen for a second attempt at managing a country.

"You think I'm going to come back? I'm not sure about that," he said. "If another club say, 'Can you come and save us', I don't think that's for me now.

"It's something I did at Blackburn, something I did at Sunderland and Crystal Palace and to a certain degree at West Ham. I've been there and I've done it.

"If I had to consider anything now it would be an international position, but even that would have to be right for me and where I felt I would have a chance.

"Perhaps maybe I could persuade Lynne [his wife] to allow me to do that because obviously it's less demanding than the Premier League. The tension and the pressure is huge when you're on international duty, as it's all focused no you, but after that months go by before you meet up again. So that would maybe suit me if I'm enticed back into the game.

"I've had one or two offers, and the challenge has been to save the club from relegation, but not internationally.

"It's far too early for me to consider a position at the moment. I'm going to spend some time travelling the world. You can't do those things when you're a football manager

"The problem for me will be to get through this season because of the itches that will certainly come around when the season starts.

"I am definitely going to miss it, there's no doubt about that."
