Sam Allardyce to be unveiled as England manager at St George's Park

Sam Allardyce will be unveiled as the new England manager on Monday after he finally got the job he always craved.

Allardyce, fresh from keeping Sunderland in the Premier League against the odds, was the unanimous choice from the Football Association panel to replace Roy Hodgson, who stepped down after the humiliation of defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016.

The former Bolton boss, 61, has made no secret down the years that he would like the opportunity at leading England.

Steve McClaren was chosen ahead of him after Allardyce was interviewed in 2006 -- but this time he has been given the chance, and he insists he is ready for the challenge.

"For me, with my experience, I think it's the right time," he said as his appointment was confirmed by the Football Association after discussing his severance from Sunderland.

"I think I'm at the right age, with the right experience and hopefully I can pass my knowledge and experience onto the team and the staff working behind the team."

Allardyce will address the media at St George's Park, where is expected to reveal the setup of his coaching staff.

Sammy Lee and Paul Clement are reportedly set to be confirmed as working with Allardyce.

Lee worked alongside Allardyce at Bolton while Clement is tipped to take on a part-time role as he is currently Carlo Ancelotti's assistant manager at Bayern Munich.
