Ray Lewington: England have all the ingredients for Euro 2016 success

England assistant coach Ray Lewington believes Roy Hodgson's side have what is needed to challenge for glory at Euro 2016.

Preparations for the tournament in France are in full flow, with the 23-man squad to be finalised on Tuesday.

England have won preparatory friendlies against Turkey and Australia 2-1, with England holding home matches on the road for the first time since Wembley reopened nine years ago.

And Lewington told the Professional Footballers Association's "4 The Player" magazine: "I think we're capable of playing and doing really well.

"It's difficult in a tournament because you don't know who you're going to play. If we come across Germany early, that is going to be a very difficult game.

"But we've shown we're capable of beating Germany -- and we know we're capable of beating anyone else.

"We've now got a lot of pace and running power in the team, and that hasn't always been in the England team.

"The age of the team has reduced drastically since we took over as it has evolved in the four years since we have been here.

"We feel if we continue with that success will come, but football is hard to predict.

"We want to go all the way, and we have the ingredients to give us a realistic chance of having a really good tournament."

The England coaching team will have whittled the squad down to 23 by the Wembley encounter, with Fabian Delph's groin injury meaning only two more names have to be cut by the UEFA deadline.
