Chris Townsley scored a rare brace as East Stirling recorded a 3-1 win over 10-man Queen's Park.
The game ultimately hinged on referee Stevie O'Reilly's decision to award the Shire a penalty and send off Ricki Lamie on 25 minutes. Iain Thomson fired the spot-kick into the bottom-right corner to give the visitors the lead.
East Stirling doubled their advantage two minutes before the break when Townsley headed home Jamie Glasgow's centre.
The depleted hosts pulled one back in first-half stoppage time as Blair Spittal fired past Grant Hay.
Townsley restored the Shire's two-goal lead early in the second half. The defender met another Glasgow cross witha low shot to ensure East Stirling got their season off to the perfect start.
