Paterson helps Forfar avoid shock
Goalkeeper Greg Paterson was Forfar's hero as they avoided a shock defeat in the Ramsdens Cup first round by beating Buckie Thistle 5-4 on penalties after the game finished 1-1.
The Highland League side failed to deal with Martyn Fotheringham's early corner but striker Stephen Crawford was denied from six yards by goalkeeper Kevin Main.
The visitors did go behind after 28 minutes when Graham Gibson tapped in Fotheringham's low cross from close range.
However, Forfar's advantage lasted just five minutes as Craig MacMillan rose to meet Paul Napier's cross to level the tie.
Main used his feet to deny Crawford from close range again after the ball broke for the striker midway through the second period.
The Buckie keeper also pulled off brilliant stops in extra-time to deny David Mowat and Christopher Templeman.
But Paterson, his opposite number, made the only save in the shoot-out to deny Lewis MacKinnon and send Forfar through.
