Al Wahda 1-4 Seongnam: Koreans set for Inter
Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma enjoyed a resounding victory over Al Wahda to set
up a semi-final meeting with Inter Milan at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Goals from Mauricio Molina, Sasa Ognenovski, Choi Sung-kuk and Cho Dong-geon ensured a safe passage through for the South Koreans, with Fernando Baiano netting the only reply for the hosts. Al Wahda had seen off Papua New Guinea's Hekari United to reach the last eight, but a nervy start against Seongnam was punished when they conceded after just four minutes. Defender Hamdan Al Kamali scuffed his attempted clearance straight into the path of Molina, who hit the target from 20 yards. The United Arab Emirates club managed to find an equaliser after 27 minutes with Baiano heading in a cross from Eisa Ahmed, but their joy lasted just three minutes as Seongnam regained the advantage through a header of their own from captain Ognenovski. A third goal followed after 71 minutes when Choi fired into the top right corner, and the match was put to bed nine minutes from time with Cho turning in Molina's delivery with his head.
