Ainsworth makes Hayes pay
Veteran midfielder Gareth Ainsworth spared Wycombe's blushes as his late winner sank non-league Hayes & Yeading 2-1.
Wycombe took the lead against the run of play after 61 minutes when Scott Davies played in Stuart Beavon, who turned and drilled home his right-footed shot from just inside the penalty area.
The home side grabbed the goal they richly deserved nine minutes later when Bradley Pritchard found space in the box to sweep home Peter Holmes' low cross.
But there was heartbreak for Hayes late on as former QPR playmaker Ainsworth scrambled the ball home from a Davies corner to book the Chairboys' place in round two.
