City miss out on top spot
Brechin missed the chance to go top of the Second Division after they were held to a goalless draw by Stenhousemuir.
Jim Weir's team began the game brightly and were given a golden opportunity to seize control of the match when Paul Quinn felled David McKenna in the area.
But Neil Janczyk's placed spot-kick after 11 minutes was turned around the post by Alistair Brown.
Stenhousemuir rallied after the early wake-up call and began to carve out chances of their own, with Grant Anderson drilling a shot narrowly wide.
Anderson should have scored but could only volley past the upright as Stenny began to boss the affair.
However, the two teams only succeeded in cancelling each other out in the second half as the spoils were shared at Ochilview Park.
