Dunfermline missed a chance to go top of the First Division as they were consigned to a 2-1 defeat at Morton.
Brian Graham gave the home side the lead after 24 minutes with a close-range finish from a Carli Monti corner.
Monti then slotted in the second from the spot 12 minutes later after Calum Woods had fouled Stuart McCaffrey.
The visitors almost got back into the match three minutes after half-time but Ryan Thomson's 20-yard effort hit the crossbar.
However, they did pull one back seven minutes from time through William Gibson's strike from just outside the area.
But the Pars failed to find an equaliser which would have put them level on points with Raith at the summit.
