VVV Venlo were convincing winners in the battle of the Eredivisie's bottom two as Willem II's miserable start to the campaign continued.
Ruud Boymans set the visitors on their way in Tilburg with a 24th-minute opener from the spot and doubled their advantage four minutes into the second half.
Further second-half strikes from Balazs Toth and substitute Diogo Viana put the outcome beyond doubt before Maceo Rigters' late consolation for the hosts.
The result - VVV's third win of the season - lifts the victors onto nine points, while Willem II remain rooted to the bottom on just two points.
It could all have been different for the home team had they made the most of some decent early pressure.
But two successive corners led to nothing - the first cleared off the line and the second headed just over by Bart Biemans - and then VVV goalkeeper got down well to keep out a smart free-kick from Andreas Lasnik.
Those missed opportunities proved costly as VVV were awarded a penalty following a counter-attack just after the midway point in the first half.
Willem II defender Arjan Swinkels was adjudged to have handled a goal-bound shot and Boymans coolly converted from 12 yards.
The visitors stretched their lead at the start of the second half when home goalkeeper Davino Verhulst inexplicably spilled a routine shot from Ken Leemans into the path of Boymans, who had the simple task of tapping home from three yards.
That goal opened the floodgates and four minutes later Toth made it three when his casual-looking attempt from the edge of the box trickled into the bottom-right corner.
Verhulst went some way to making amends for his earlier error by pulling off a brilliant save to keep out an Alexander Nkume header.
The game was temporarily halted midway through the second half due to abuse being hurled at the referee by the home fans.
But the game was soon under way again and the suffering continued for Willem II as Viana's unstoppable long-range shot flew into the top-left corner.
The home supporters finally had something to cheer five minutes from time when Lars Hutten's shot was fumbled and fellow substitute Rigters tapped home the rebound, but it was scant consolation.
