Caen 0-3 Sochaux

Sochaux moved into ninth in the Ligue 1 table with a comfortable win at struggling Caen.

Damien Perquis put them ahead just before the break and they did not look back, with Brown Ideye and Nicolas Maurice-Belay adding further goals in the second-half.

The result leaves Caen languishing in 19th place, with just one home win to their name all season.

Sochaux set their stall out early on, with Kandia Traoro's ball into the box causing trouble, before Maurice-Belay cut into the box with a mazy run and unleashed a drive that Alexis Thebaux did well to keep out.

The pressure continued to mount on the Caen goal and it was of little surprise when Perquis gave them a 40th-minute lead, nipping in to get his head to a Marvin Martin corner.

The one-way traffic continued after the restart, with Ideye putting his side further ahead four minutes into the second half.

A dangerous ball into the box found him unmarked and he made no mistake in nodding home.

Finally Caen woke up, but Youssef El Arabi failed to make the most of a ball that fell to him in the area.

If Caen did harbour any hopes of a comeback then they were put to bed just after the hour, with Maurice-Belay unleashing a stunning drive that caught Thebaux by surprise.

It could have been more, with Thebaux doing well to keep out Modibo Maiga, before Caen finished strongly, with Yohan Mollo going close with a free-kick.
