Modibo Maiga scored nine minutes from time to rescue a point for Sochaux at home to Auxerre.
Frederic Sammaritano gave the visitors the lead after 23 minutes, but Maiga struck late on to ensure the spoils were shared.
Maiga actually had the first real chance of the match after six minutes when he tried his luck with a shot from just outside the area which Auxerre goalkeeper Olivier Sorin needed two attempts to gather.
Auxerre took a while to respond and it was not until the 17th minute that Dennis Oliech got a shot on target which was deflected wide by Pierrick Cros.
But the away side took the lead just six minutes later when Sammaritano was given time and space to curl the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
Sochaux attempted to get back on level terms and from Marvin Martin's corner Damien Perquis turned the ball inches over the bar at the near post.
The home side went in search of an equaliser in the second period and Nicolas Maurice-Belay released Boukary Drame on the edge of the area, but he fired straight at Sorin.
It was beginning to look like not being Sochaux's night as they twice hit the woodwork within a minute.
First, Martin beat three defenders and crossed for Maiga to head against the bar, and seconds later Martin was again the provider for Brown Ideye to head once more against the frame of the goal.
But with just nine minutes left, Drame's cross from the left found Maiga at the far post and this time he made no mistake with a header beyond Sorin.
