T & T 2-3 Costa Rica: Borges nets brace
BACOLET, Tobago -- Celso Borges scored twice, including a tiebreaking goal in the 68th minute, and Costa Rica defeated Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday night.
Carlos Edwards put Trinidad and Tobago ahead in the 30th minute, but Alvaro Saborio tied it in the 41st and Borges gave Costa Rica the lead in the 52nd. Colin Samuels made it 2-2 in the 64th.
Costa Rica (4-1), which defeated the United States 3-1 on Wednesday, leads the six-nation finals of North and Central America and the Caribbean with 12 points, while Trinidad (0-2-2) is in last place with two. The top three teams qualify for next year's World Cup and the No. 4 team goes to a playoff. T&T plays Wednesday at Mexico.
