Werder Bremen v Nurnberg: Preview

Nurnberg have won on their last two visits to Werder Bremen, and their coach Dieter Hecking would like nothing more than a third victory at the Weser Stadion tomorrow.

His side have managed top open up a seven-point gap over the bottom three in recent weeks, but Hecking says his side would be able to enjoy the winter break that little bit more if they can establish a 10-point cushion in the last Bundesliga match of 2012.

``With a win, the mulled wine would certainly taste a lot better at our Christmas party,'' he said.

``We would love to go into the break with 22 points. Why shouldn't we beat them for a third time?''

Hecking would struggle to find an answer for that question after taking a look at Bremen's performances this season and spotting where his side can hurt them.

``They have a lot of quality, but have weaknesses in defence,'' he said at a press conference.

``We have got to take advantage of that. We have got to have enough motivation to win in Bremen because we don't want to have to be looking over our shoulders.''

Instead, an away win would leave Bremen looking down with anxiety at the relegation zone.

``We want to end the year with a great and successful game,'' said their coach Thomas Schaaf, who can count on Aaron Hunt once again after recovering from a calf injury.

``It was important for Aaron to have a break because we didn't want to risk him being sidelined for a long time,'' explained Schaaf, who welcomes back his side's joint top goalscorer.

Mehmet Ekici, who earned a move to Bremen 18 months ago after a strong season in Nurnberg, is unlikely to be considered once again as he struggles to make an impression in northern Germany.
