Lorient v Bordeaux: Preview

Bordeaux will look to continue their recent good run when they visit Lorient tomorrow.

After beating fourth-placed Toulouse with a late Yoan Gouffran goal last weekend, the club's chances of making progress in the Europa League were also boosted when they defeated Maritimo 1-0 on Thursday night.

David Bellion scored the match-winner after 16 minutes, and with group leaders Newcastle drawing 2-2 at Club Brugge, there is only a point between the two sides and the Magpies still have to travel to France.

Bordeaux resume league action seventh in the table, but only five points separate the top eight.

Lorient slipped to 11th with a 2-0 defeat at Brest last Friday, but in their last home match came from 4-1 down to grab a point with Ajaccio.

Former Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere scored two of the goals and the equaliser came five minutes into stoppage time from French Under-21 international Gilles Sunu.

Bordeaux fans will be wondering if they are about to be boosted by the return to the club of Marouane Chamakh.

He has hinted he could leave Arsenal if he does not get more first-team action.

Chamakh told French radio station RMC: ``After Robin van Persie left I thought I'd play more.

``It's up to me to prove myself, but if nothing changes I must make a decision.

``Bordeaux? It could be a solution if I decide to go, but my priority is to stay in the Premier League.''
