Montpellier coach Rene Girard has given his strongest hint yet that he will not seek to renew his contract with the club when it expires this summer.
Girard goes into tomorrow's Stade de la Mosson meeting with Ligue 1's bottom club Nancy with his side struggling in ninth place after last weekend's 4-1 thrashing at Saint-Etienne.
Girard, who led Montpellier to their famous title win last season, told Midi Libre: ``I know what to tell the president when we meet. For me it is clear. It is a choice I have been making for some time.
``It would be nice to clarify the situation before June, because the players must remain focused. I believe this group can finish the season well and not continue in their current form.''
Montpellier face a rejuvenated Nancy side who believe a great escape from relegation remains possible despite last week's 2-1 home defeat to Reims.
Two previous victories, including a 1-0 win in Marseille, have dragged Nancy level on points with second-bottom Troyes and only five points adrift of safety.
Midfielder Thomas Mangani said: ``It is still possible. We need the fans and I hope they continue to believe in us. We will fight until the last minute of the last match to save the club.
``Of course we were all disappointed by last weekend but we went back to work to move the club forward. It has been proven over the last few games how we can do good things, so we must continue to believe.''
