Mamadou Sakho knee injury worries Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce is hopeful that defender Mamadou Sakho did not suffer an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

Sakho, who is on loan at Palace from Liverpool, was stretchered off in the second half of his side's 1-0 loss against Spurs after falling awkwardly when challenging for the ball.

"It looks like ligament trouble for Mama," Allardyce said. "We certainly hope it's not the cruciate but it could be the medial or the lateral.

"It certainly looks like a hyper-extension of the knee and we wait and see what the scan shows."

Sakho has impressed in his eight appearances for Palace since joining the club in January, helping them climb away from danger and up to 12th in the table.

Allardyce, whose team are next in action at home to Burnley on Saturday, is already without defenders Scott Dann and James Tomkins through injury.
