Algeria turn to Halilhodzic

Former Ivory Coast coach Vahid Halilhodzic has been appointed as the new coach of Algeria and will begin a three-year contract on July 1.

Halilhodzic, 58, enjoyed some success as a club coach in France, leading Lille to third place in Ligue 1 and Champions League qualification in 2001 before moving on to Rennes and Paris St Germain, where he won the Coupe de France.
