Agents deny Smith Twitter hijack

Alan Smith's agents have been forced to clarify that a Twitter account purporting to belong to the Newcastle United midfielder is in fact fake.

The account in question, @AlanSmithy17, describes itself as "the official Alan Smith Twitter account" and on Wednesday afternoon tweets claiming to be from the striker's ex-fiancee, who had apparently hacked into the site, promised to reveal the truth about his move from Leeds to Manchester United in 2004 and whether he could return to Elland Road.
