Frugal France needing a lift

It's not as if France has been short of action this summer what with 'the bus of shame', Raymond Domenech's 'non-handshake of shame' and Laurent Blanc's decision 'to shame and not name' for his first game in charge. The close season, though, should all be about big-name transfers - real or imaginary - and in this regard, Ligue 1 has been badly lacking, and it seems it's all to do with la crise - French shorthand for the world's current lack of cash.
