Brazil eye their place in history

Only one team in the history of the Confederations Cup has ever defended the title (France in 2001 and 2003), but Brazil are well placed to become the second as they meet the U.S. in the final on Sunday.

After Spain were unceremoniously dumped out of the competition the previous night, Brazil rode the waves of possible upset to overcome a tough South African side and give themselves the chance to write themselves into the history books as this tournament's most successful team.
