In the early days of MLS, it wasn't unusual for a team's manager to have spent time coaching at the collegiate level. In fact, the first four coaches to win an MLS Cup -- a list that includes Bruce Arena, Bob Bradley, Thomas Rongen, and Bob Gansler -- all spent time in the collegiate ranks.
